Parking a link: labor force participation

This map, from the New York Times, claims to be about how many women are in the workforce, vs. staying at home, but it's really about labor force participation in general, for men and women, and, helpfully, it excludes retirees, unlike the data I was looking at the other day.

The Florida panhandle?  Significantly fewer men than women working.  Similarly low rates in Kentucky/West Virginia.  One county in New Mexico has only 28% of men working.  Unfortunately, since the Times is interested in where the stay-at-home moms, they don't pay attention to this.

Love comments! And the nice thing about this small blog is that I rarely get spam so don't need to moderate the comments.

I've set the comments up to allow anonymous users -- but I'd love it if you "signed" your comments (as some of my readers have done) just so you have an identity of sorts.
